Weekly Review: Feb 22 - 28, 2016

Here's this week's recap
Monday
Total Calories:  1402
AM Workout:  Bike - 30mins, 15.3mph avg, 7.8mi, resistance level 3
Notes:  I pushed a bit today, but certainly not as hard as I could have pushed.  Still I felt like it was a positive workout.

Tuesday
Total Calories:  1291
AM Workout:  Run/Walk - .14mi warm up walk, 2mi @ 14:50 per mi (1min walk/30sec run), .24mi cool down walk
Notes:  Everything felt really good during my run/walk today.  I decided to push a little bit more and worked hard to not let my mind tell my body it was tired - a lot of this is mental.  I'm still working on my breathing.

Wednesday
Total Calories:  1420
AM Workout:  Elliptical - 39mins, 1715 revolutions, ramp incline 10%, varying resistance, 1.01mi
Notes:  I really pushed during this workout today and managed to get a few extra minutes in.  I will say that my legs are feeling the extra effort I'm trying to put in this week.

Thursday
Total Calories:  1288
PM Workout:  Bike - 45mins, 11.4mi, 15.3mph avg, resistance level 2
Notes:  I intended to do a run/walk today, but I met a lady that lives in my development and she asked if I minded her walking with me...not my typical style, but I just walked with her.

Friday
Total Calories:  1402
Rest
Notes:  The body was asking for a rest day today and I obliged.

Saturday
Total Calories:  1119
REST
Notes: Plans changed today so I wasn't able to get my workout in, but that's okay.

Sunday
Total Calories:  1320
PM Workout: Elliptical - 30mins, ramp 10% incline, resistance level 1, 1562 revolutions, .92mi
Notes:  I really struggled with this workout today.  I'm not sure why I'm so worn out, but man I just feel like I've been beaten up this week.

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: -4.7 pounds
Yes, finally something I've done has finally started to pay off with a better number on the scale.  I know that I've upped my workout intensity and I'm really trying to keep the calories in and calories out in check.  I plan to continue with this and hopefully it will continue to work.

Run/Walk Miles: 2.38
Bike Miles: 19.2
Elliptical Miles: 1.93
TOTAL MILES: 23.51

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  13.79
Bike Miles: 41.5
Elliptical Miles: 5.64
TOTAL MILES: 60.93

Training Notes
This week I was focusing on not letting my mind defeat my efforts.  I wasn't going to tell myself to stop just because and I didn't.  The effect was that I managed to get some great intense workouts in and push a little more than I have.

Health Watch
I am continuing to watch my calorie intake versus my calories burned each day.  I've been trying really hard to maintain the 1000 calorie deficit that is called for in order to lose two pounds in a week.  Happily, I have done that or better each day this week so hopefully the scale will also show this effort.

Here's this week's recap

Tuesday
Total Calories:  1468
AM Workout:  Run/Walk - 2.25mi @ 15:28 per mi

PM Workout:  Elliptical - 30 mins, 1586 revolutions, ramp incline 20%, varying resistance, .93 mi
Notes:  I actually fell asleep after work, but I managed to get a workout in after dinner.  The only issue tonight was that my cardio is still so lacking.

Thursday
Total Calories:  1214
AM Workout:  Walk 2.12mi @ 17:54 per mi
Notes:  I intended to do a run/walk today, but I met a lady that lives in my development and she asked if I minded her walking with me...not my typical style, but I just walked with her.

Sunday
Total Calories:  1307
PM Workout: Elliptical - 30 mins, ramp 30%/10% varying resistance, 1606 revolutions, .94mi
Notes:  The theme of the week, tiredness.  This workout just about killed me today, I was really feeling it by the end.

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: -2.6 pounds
This was a better number than last week, but I could still use some improvement so I'll have to keep working on it.

Run/Walk Miles: 6.68
Bike Miles: 0.0
Elliptical Miles: 1.87
TOTAL MILES: 8.55

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  11.41
Bike Miles: 22.3
Elliptical Miles: 3.71
TOTAL MILES: 37.42

Training Notes
I'm feeling better in terms of pain in my back and knees.  I still have small twinges here and there, but nothing as bad as it was.  Now I really have to get past the fear I have that if I do a long run/walk I will end up injuring myself and be right back where I started.  It's totally a mental thing right now that I have to work on.

Health Watch
This week I really focused on making sure my calorie deficit was where it should be.  I am really trying to find the right balance of food and working out so that I can continue to lose the weight, but live life and be happy about it.

Here's this week's recap
Monday
Total Calories:  1416
PM Workout: Elliptical - 30 mins, 1562 revolution, varying resistance levels, ramp 10%
Notes:  Workout felt pretty good today.  Nothing was really painful and I didn't have to adjust the program at all.

Tuesday
Total Calories:  1360
PM Workout:  Run/Walk - .14mi warm up walk, 2mi @ 15:55 per mi 1min walk/30 sec run, .22mi cool down
Notes:  Why is it already over 80 degrees?  I was miserable with the heat and my legs are just feeling dead from the past few workouts.  Still, I managed to get some time on my feet.

Wednesday
Total Calories:  1332
PM Workout:  Bike - 7.6 mi, 30 mins, resistance level 3, 15.2 mph avg
Notes:  It's funny, I've been trying to get more steps in, but due to that, I'm feeling worn out for my workouts.  Stupid, I know, but that's what's happening.  I still managed to get a great bike ride in tonight.

Thursday
Total Calories:  1355
Rest
Notes:  Took a rest day to let my legs.

Friday
Total Calories:  1538
Rest
Notes:  Spent some times with the little ones tonight and we played and hung out so I didn't have time to workout.  Although, I feel that playing with the kids is actually a pretty tough workout.

Saturday
Total Calories:  1335
PM Workout: Elliptical - 30 mins, 1555 revolutions, varying resistance, ramp 10%, .91 mi
Notes: Rough day for Belle, but I managed to get a good elliptical workout in.

Sunday
Total Calories:  1250
PM Workout: Bike - 30 mins, 7 mi, 14 mph avg, resistance level 2
Notes:  So very tired today.  I really didn't want to workout, but I managed to get on the bike for a little bit at least.

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: -0.7 pounds
I am disappointed with this number.  I didn't feel like the number should have been that low, but at least it wasn't up.

Run/Walk Miles: 2.36
Bike Miles: 14.6
Elliptical Miles: 1.83
TOTAL MILES: 18.79

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  4.73
Bike Miles: 22.3
Elliptical Miles: 1.83
TOTAL MILES: 28.86

Training Notes
My back and knees are starting to feel better, but I'm being super cautious so that I don't make them bad again.  I'm not getting enough run/walk miles in, but I'm working on it.  The bike and elliptical workouts are going pretty well.  Overall, I'm pretty happy where I am after a few weeks of workouts.  Still have a long way to go, but I'll get there.

Health Watch
Eating away from home is still a big stress factor for me.  I've eaten out at a restaurant and at a relatives house the last two weeks and it really forced me to think about what I was having and how much.  They were little victories, but I feel like I did well in each instance.

I ended up getting a Fitbit Charge and I really like it.  Much better than the Flex - it gives me more information immediately and makes it easier to know where I am at any point.
