Training Notes
Another sub-par week of training and it has shaken my confidence to the ground.  I am so unsure of anything right now.  I think I've hit my breaking point - physically and mentally.  I'm trying to snap out of it, but it is tough right now.

January 2013 was not good for me, but there was legitimate health reasons for the lack of training and lack of confidence.  Now we're coming up on January 2014 and I have no excuses, I have tried, but I haven't tried hard enough and I'm not sure what that will mean for my upcoming races.

This next week I will be working on rebuilding my mental strength and believing that my body will hold up and do me proud.  I will start laying the ground work for better things to come.

I will succeed as long as I try and do my best!

Weekly Review: Dec 16 - 22, 2013

Here's this week's recap
Monday
PM Workout: Elliptical 1mi, resistance level 4, ramp incline 10%
Notes:  Working with a migraine and tummy trouble today, but it was an okay workout under the circumstances.

Tuesday
AM Workout:  Treadmill run/walk 2.05mi @ 14:38 per mi
Notes:  Did my workout in the morning again today, felt a bit out of sorts, but it eased up as I kept going.

Wednesday
PM Workout:  Bike 8mi, 16.1mph avg, resistance level 3
Notes:  Okay bike ride - legs felt tight and tired all day.

Thursday
PM Workout: Treadmill run/walk 3.1mi @ 14:40 per mi
Notes:  Run/walk felt comfortable tonight.  All of a sudden, the Dopey is feeling really real.

Friday
PM Workout: Treadmill run/walk 6.2mi @ 15:38 per mi
Notes:  Felt pretty good tonight, kept it light and easy and mostly walking.  My neck has been really sore all day - I expect stress is the culprit - but it felt okay during my run/walk.

Saturday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 13.1mi @ 15:434 per mi
Notes: This was not easy tonight, I struggled in the end.

Sunday
PM Workout: Treadmill 8mi
Notes:  I had intended to do more, but the treadmill had other ideas today.  Once it started acting up, I had to restart and I just lost all motivation to keep going.  This is not a good omen and it leaves me quite baffled about how the full marathon is going to go.  YIKES!!!

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: +0.6 pounds
Sigh.

Run/Walk Miles: 32.45
Bike Miles: 8.0
Elliptical Miles: 1.0
TOTAL MILES: 41.45

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  63.98
Bike Miles: 24.4
Elliptical Miles: 2.0
TOTAL MILES: 90.38

Training Notes
I sure wish that I felt better about how this week went and I wish that I would have been strong enough to get the full marathon distance in.  I feel very unprepared for the Dopey, but it is what it is and I will deal with it.

I didn't think I did that bad with food and eating, but here I am weighing more again.

Weekly Review: Dec 9 - 15, 2013

Here's this week's recap
Monday

Notes:  Really wasn't feeling like working out tonight, but I took it slow and easy and managed an okay ride.

Tuesday
AM Workout:  Treadmill run/walk 2.58mi @ 14:20 per mi
Notes:  Belle had an early morning seizure and didn't want to go back to sleep so I got my workout in early today.

Wednesday

Notes:  Okay run/walk tonight.  Got my Dopey corral today.

Sunday
PM Workout: Treadmill Miracle Mile 12:07, total 2.49mi @ 14:46 per mi

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: +3.2 pounds
Sigh.

Run/Walk Miles: 10.82
Bike Miles: 7.8
Elliptical Miles: 1.0
TOTAL MILES: 19.62

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  31.53
Bike Miles: 16.4
Elliptical Miles: 1.0
TOTAL MILES: 48.93

Training Notes
My corral for Dopey is M - that means there are three corrals behind me and based on this week, I am sure I'm going to need as much cushion as I can get, especially for the full.

I am sure I'm going to struggle again for these first races this year, but I'll give them my best and hopefully that will be enough to see me through and get that coveted bling!

The doctor mentioned that I need to pay attention to my blood pressure.  Of course, it's always high when I go to the doctor because I don't like doctors - it's nothing against them, it is just that I grew up battling doctors, insurance, and hospitals with my parents and unfortunately, I always expect the worst when I go in a doctor's office.  I know that's not fair, but it is my reality.  Needless to say, I know I'm getting older and I know that my weight is out of control.  I'm not stupid, just lack will power.

Training Notes
Huge sigh...It's been another bad week for me.  I just haven't been feeling good this week and it has really blown my confidence.  This is not how I wanted to go in to my last month of training for Dopey.  That being said - it is where I am and I now have to make the best of the situation I put myself in.

I've really done a disservice to myself with my lack of work on my diet.  I should have been working on that aspect all year and now it is going to bite me in the rear.  Yep, I admit it and take full responsibility.  No one forced me to eat badly and not take control.

So, the next few weeks are going to be telling and I can only hope I can do better and make it through these races!

2013 Disneyland 10K

The alarms went off at 4am and I managed to get myself up and get all my gear on.  I headed out of the room at 4:50am and started walking towards the Disneyland Hotel.  On my way, I sent a text to De'Dee to see if they were still there.  Turns out they were there and they invited me up as they finished getting ready.

We all headed out to the staging area and as we got there the 5K was just getting under way.  De'Dee and Pam were meeting up with the All Ears Team for a picture so I tagged along to take pictures for them.

At 5:45am we headed toward the corrals.  The 10K corrals were set up, but the crowds were unbelievable.  It was almost impossible to move.  Everyone was standing around in a huge crowd not moving.  After what seemed like a long time we made it to the split for the A - C corrals that went right and the D - G corrals that went left.

It was mass confusion, horrible crowds, there was no way the volunteers could check bibs due to the number of participants.  To top it off, the entries to the corrals were so poorly marked that people were just moving the fencing out of the way to get in the corrals they thought were the right ones.

I'm not kidding when I say that it was the worst sort of unorganized madness.  I finally figured out how to get in to my corral (F) and I made my way up as close to the front of the corral as I could, which wasn't very far.

As I looked around all I could see was people in the wrong corral.  I was definitely in corral F, but the majority of the bibs were corral G.  Then outside of the fences there were just so many people that couldn't get in to the corrals.

I just tried to take it in stride, but it was surprising how crazy it was.  Still, in just a few minutes we started moving forward and then we were off!

My legs were a  little stiff when I started, but I was walking and loosening up and then it was time to run.
Wait, there are so many people, how am I going to be able to run?  It was tough and I had to weave a lot to keep any kind of momentum.  Nope, you can prepare for weaving on a treadmill...

The first mile of the race was on the roads and not super exciting, but definitely thick with people.  I finished mile 1 in 14:40 - I was okay with that.  The first water stop had no water cups.  The volunteers had bottles of water, but there were no cups available.  Thankfully I carry water with me because it was hot and humid.

Mile 2 was more of the same - crowds and more weaving.  I was still able to keep to my run/walk intervals though and was feeling okay overall.  Finished mile 2 in 14:23.

On to California Adventure.  It was so nice being in the park, but it did slow me down a bit.  While I have some pictures that make it look empty, there were quite a few bottleneck areas in the park.

Carsland - so pretty in the morning!

By mile 3 we were headed out of California Adventure.  Mile 3 took 14:53 - see, told you it slowed me down a bit.

At this point, I decided to go ahead and keep pushing today because I was feeling good and I knew I'd pay for it tomorrow.  Also, I knew that it was so hot and humid that it was going to get me tomorrow.

Now we were in Disneyland.  It was so fun being in the parks.  As I headed up Main Street I ran in to Pam and De'Dee.  It was fun to run in to someone I knew, but I was only with them for a little while as I wanted to keep up my run/walk intervals.
 photo 734899-1109-0023s_zpsdd209984.jpg
I'm not sure what is so funny, but I think it was just the joy of running down Main Street!

Mile 4 was 14:22.  The crowds were just starting to thin out and I wasn't having to weave as much and I felt like I had breathing room again.

2013 Disneyland 10K Running Through the Castle

We headed backstage at Disneyland and then we headed back in to the park which was a lot of fun.  Mile 5 was 14:31.  I had to walk a little bit more - some because of crowds, some because I was just wearing down and hot.  We headed out of Disneyland and in to Downtown Disney.  Lots of spectators here and there comes mile marker 6.  Mile 6 was 15:19.

Here comes the end! Yeah, it's almost over.  I cross the finish line.

By my Garmin it was 6.38mi at 14:39 per mile - official time was 6.2mi at 15:03 per mile.  It wasn't as fast as I would have liked, but still better than I've done in a long time.  It was a successful race after major surgery and getting back in to training and I think that's why I was so happy.

At the end I walked forward and got my medal and had my picture taken.

2013 Disneyland 10K Medal at the Finish

Thank goodness I read the final race instructions the night before because I read that I needed a Dumbo Double Dare wristband, so I walked forward to get my wristband.  Honestly, I like the wristband if it will help runDisney keep tabs on the people that are getting their special medals.

I want to get a bottle of water and guess what - there's no water.  The crowds were lined up and they were trying to unload a truck, but I didn't want to wait.  I did get a Powerade - back to the little bottles.

Then I got in line to get my finisher photo.

Once I got my snack box and banana I sent a text to De'Dee to see how they did and they were just finishing their photos.  I waited in the reunion area and ate my banana.  I was so sweaty - I just felt gross.  We met up and talked and headed back towards our hotels.

I was back in my room by 9am, hit the ice bath, and took a shower.  The rest of the day was just rest and lounging around.

Overall I enjoyed the course, there was a lot of time in the parks which was great.  I saw a good amount of characters along the course, but I was so focused on doing my own thing that I didn't pay a lot of attention to them.

The crowds were so crazy and I was surprised at the disorganization of the corral area.  As I walked around the finish area I heard a lot of people grumpy and grumbling about things.  I heard complaints about the lack of water and crowds and of course the weather (which is out of runDisney's hands).

Still, I was excited to have a new distance and even though I've done so many races, this was my first 10K.  I really like the distance and am glad that it has been included in other upcoming race weekends.  It was also the first race I'd worn a skirt in and I have to say, it wasn't so bad - it would have been even better if it wasn't so hot and I didn't have double layers on.

Training Notes
This was supposed to be a good four day test this week.  The first three days went fantastic, but I completely blew it and didn't get the fourth long day in.  It's my own fault - I let work, fear and dread stop me from doing what I know I need to do.  It's stupid, I know and I'll have to see if I can make it up next weekend, but at the very least I can not screw up the last four day test.

I am very worried about the Dopey.  I will do it, I have to do it, I want to do it, but it will not be easy.

I was able to test out my tops and bottoms for the Dopey and I think at least those should all work.  It's always tough finding new brands and types, especially pants, but I think I did pretty good this time.  Did I mention that I am going to theme each of the four races?  I didn't - well, it's true, I decided to have fun with these four races since they are going to kick my rear!

2013 Dumbo Double Dare Expo

I know that lots of people have discussed the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Expo, but this was my fifth time doing the Disneyland events so I figured I'd share my thoughts.

I headed out to the Disneyland Hotel around 9am and went straight to the convention center to get in line.  Normally, I get my packet first and then head in to shop for merchandise, but today I decided to switch things up and get merchandise first.  There were lines all over the place and there was still almost an hour before the expo was scheduled to open.

Actually, there were three lines.  One heading downstairs to packet pick-up, one off to the side for the Disney New Balance Shoes, and one for entrance to the expo.  I was shocked by the lines, don't get me wrong the lines at this expo tend to be long, but people were winding all over the place.

As I was waiting I was chatting with a man I met in line and I looked back and just a few people behind me who do I see?  De'Dee and Pam!  De'Dee and I always end up bumping in to each other at the Expos - it is the strangest thing, but so cool to.  This was fun because we had a chance to catch up and chat while we waited in the hot, humid sun.

Finally it was time to head in and we headed straight to the official merchandise area.  Oh my gosh, this place was so crowded.  I've never seen it so crowded, it was truly difficult to move around and find things.  We all split up to go find the things that we wanted.  I have to say that this was a challenge and I struggled to find  the things I wanted. Remember this is literally five minutes after the expo opened and things were already gone.  It was sad to think of all the people that weren't going to get the things they wanted because they weren't there right at opening.

We all met back up and went in search of the end of the line to pay.  We walked, and we walked, and we walked until we were all the way past the speaker area and halfway in to the vendor area.  The line actually went all the way to the vendor area, along the presentation stage, and out in to the lobby where is zigged and zagged until it went back in to the official merchandise area, and zig-zagged some more.  We did finally make it through and get our merchandise.

After the lengthy wait we headed to see if the line for packet pick up was any shorter.  It wasn't any shorter, in fact, it was as long or longer than when the expo opened.  Back in to the expo to poke around the vendors.  Even the vendor area was so crowded that it was tough to walk around and see everything.

While we were walking around an announcement was made that you could sign up for the 2014 Dumbo Double Dare.  I went to check it out and found out that it was only available if you booked a travel package.  Bummer - I totally would have signed up, but I don't want a travel package.

Back out to the check the packet pickup line one more time and it was crazy long and all the way up to the expo area again.  On top of that, the line to get shirts was all the way out to the lobby of the hotel, which was weird because there didn't seem to be any one back at the shirt pickup area.

Since the lines were still so long and it was past lunch time we decided to go and grab a bite to eat.  We ended up at House of Blues since there was only a couple minute wait.  It was a great lunch and a nice break from the hectic atmosphere of the expo.  Did I mention it was well after 1pm when we went to lunch and we still didn't have our packets?

Once we got back to the convention center we were able to head down the ramp to get our bibs.  The lines were short at this point and I got my bib and pins and necklace card quick and easy.  I got my necklace and De'Dee discovered that her credit card was missing and decided it was back at House of Blues.  We grabbed our shirts and headed out to get De'Dee's credit card while Pam waited in line at runner relations.

It was 3:30pm when we all met back up.  I have never taken so long at an expo before and as I mentioned I've done this one four other years and over 30 other runDisney expos.  Normally I come in, get my packet, shop and am done in about an hour and a half.  This was an all day event.

I should also mention that it was so hot and humid this day.  I felt worn out from the heat and humidity and it didn't bode well for the races.

Little Mermaid Magnet - Did I mention that these were originally put in the goody bag where people were putting their bibs...Not a good plan since magnets tend to make the B Tags not work correctly. Later in the day the volunteers were warning participants to make sure not to place bibs next to the magnet. OOPS!

November 2013 Wrap Up

Weight Watch: +.4 pounds
There's really nothing to say here.  It's just not on my mind right now to do better.

Mileage Watch:
Run/Walk: 72.07 miles
Bike: 55.9 miles
Elliptical: 3.33 miles
Total Miles: 131.30 miles

Goal Review
So, I set a goal for November - continue miles every day.  Didn't matter how many miles as long as I got up and moved.

I am happy to say that I met this goal once again.  It wasn't always easy or pretty, but I do feel like the miles have made me stronger when I've really needed it.  It has also made me think about doing it every single day.

I have done my best to stick to the Galloway plan for Dopey.  I've done all my short runs, but I still tend to struggle with the long runs at times.  By the time the weekend rolls around I'm usually quite tired and wrung out and have trouble getting moving.

December 2013
I intend to continue the miles every day goal in December.  It's the final push to January now and I need all the strength I can get.

I will continue to use the Galloway Dopey Training plan.  I am going to continue to try to make my run/walk segments last as long as I can in hopes to build a buffer on race days.  I will also work on getting the long miles done outside.

2013 Expedition Everest Challenge

The expo for the 2013 Expedition Everest Challenge was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  If you've ever visited the other expos, this one is nothing like those.  This is a small expo.  There's bib pick-up, and bag/shirt pick-up.  Then there's a small official merchandise location and a few vendors.  They have some speakers and sessions to describe the course and the process for the 5K and the scavenger hunt - I recommend checking out one of these sessions if it is your first time doing this event.

This is an evening event so plan on arriving at Animal Kingdom before or around sunset and then waiting around for a bit.  Driving to the Animal Kingdom and parking is quick and easy and the race starts in the parking lot.

As I walked around I noticed a lot of interesting costumes this year - including the guys dressed princesses - yes, one of them was dressed as Jasmine including the stomach baring top.  Lots of people were taking their pictures with these guys.  Too funny!

I took some pictures for people as I walked to my corral.  I knew I was going to be slow so I headed to my corral.  It was a very warm and humid evening and I was already sweating as I stood around and waited.  All of a sudden something hit my hair - I thought it was just someone passing behind me - then it happened again and I turned around.  The guy behind me said - sorry, there was a bug.  So I thanked him for getting rid of it.  That was very funny and nice of him.

There was a brief announcement about the Boston Marathon events and a moment of silence.  It was very tactfully done.  Then we had a sing along version of the National Anthem with trumpet accompaniment.  It was quite lovely.

2013 Expedition Everest Challenge Start Line

The start line was rather fun as they had the snow machines out and there was snow floating and fans blowing.  It really added a lot to the atmosphere.

Then it was time to go.  The beginning of the race is around the parking lot and not a lot of fun, but thankfully the boring part ends quickly as the first obstacle approaches.

The first obstacle - hay bales

The first obstacle is hay bales and if you look at the picture above you'll see in the background people on the ground.  Right as I was going over the first hay bale the woman next to me went down hard on her elbow.  She was hurting.  Thankfully, the medics saw her and I stayed with her until they arrived just a minute or two later.  She was crying and crushed.  I am sure her arm was hurting pretty good, but I think maybe she was more shaken up and embarrassed than anything else.  It seems to me that the worst part of this race is that it is a 5K with obstacles.  I think many people assume that since it's a 5K they can go all out even if they don't train and it gets them in to trouble.  I've seen plenty of people go down on this course.

The medics arrived and I headed on my way.

The second obstacle is tires and this year was a little different than last year.  Last year the tires were set up so that people that didn't want to chance falling could walk between the rows of tires.  This year there was no way to get around the tires so you were stuck going through them.  It was a bit dark and there were way more tires this time.  I managed to get through them without killing myself.

I was having a rough time with this one because I was pretty sick.  It was about a week before I had surgery and was a bit rough, but I managed.

I met a very inspirational man after the tires and we chatted through most of the back part of Animal Kingdom.  He had his Achilles' rebuilt earlier in the year and this was a goal race for him in his recovery.  He was doing a great job and I hope I was able to give him a bit of a boost for the last part of the race.

The third obstacle came right after mile 3 and was the army crawl under netting.  Last year I got down and did this, but this year there was no way I was going to be able to crawl on my stomach so I went around this time.

Before the Scavenger Hunt

Once you get through the 5K you get a penlight and your first clue card and head back in to the park.  I have to say that I wasn't completely in to the scavenger hunt this year.  I felt that the clues were a bit tough or my mind just wasn't in to riddling things out.  I worked with other participants, listened to others or just flat out asked volunteers for help.  I just really wanted to be done.

I managed to get through and get my medal so I was happy.

Apparently, runDisney after parties and I just can't seem to get together.  As soon as I got my medal, I headed straight to my car and headed for home.  I didn't even make it back in to the park.

I still like this event.  It's fun and different.  One thing I noticed this year is that it wasn't quite as fun as last year because they did the family scavenger hunt in the morning at ESPN Wide World of Sports which meant there weren't as many families on the course during the evening event.  One of the things I loved last year was watching the excitement all of the kids had during the event.  Still, whether you do this event as an individual or a team it is a fun event and I do recommend everyone try it at least once.

Weekly Review: Nov 11 - 17, 2013

Here's this week's recap
Monday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 1.75mi @ 17:08 per mi
Notes:  Still a bit sore and achy today, but the walk was good to keep me moving.

Tuesday
PM Workout:  Treadmill run/walk 2.0mi @ 15:23 per mi
Notes:  Well the legs are still feeling the races a bit so I kept it slow and easy tonight.

Wednesday
PM Workout:  Treadmill walk 1.65mi @ 18:10 per mi
Notes:  Kept the incline at 2.5% tonight, but I was just feeling off and tired so nothing fancy tonight.

Thursday
PM Workout: Treadmill run/walk 2.17mi @ 14:17 per mi
Notes:  Still not feeling great today.  Legs are still worn out and my stomach isn't feeling great.  Despite that, I got a good run in.

Friday
PM Workout: Elliptical 1.17mi, ramp incline 10%, resistance level 1
Notes:  Oddly, the elliptical felt good and comfortable tonight.  That probably means I need to make it harder for myself to keep challenging my muscles.  Can't say I'm feeling much better today and I'm very tired.

Saturday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 2.0mi @ 15:00 per mi
Notes: Belle had a mini seizure this afternoon and I've been sick all day.  Should have been a six miler today, but that just wasn't going to happen.

Sunday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 1.81mi @ 16:34 per mi
Notes:  Still just not feeling great today and I'm hoping this passes soon as I don't have time to be sick right now.  Just a quick, quiet walk on the treadmill to get some movement and distance in.  Certainly nothing fancy or all that great.

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: +0.6 pounds
Yep, I probably deserve to have gained more for all the junk I've eaten this week.

Run/Walk Miles: 11.38
Bike Miles: 1.17
Elliptical Miles: 0.0
TOTAL MILES: 12.55

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  47.53
Bike Miles: 23.30
Elliptical Miles: 1.17
TOTAL MILES: 72.00

Training Notes
This has been a rough week for me.  I was pretty sore from the races last week so I didn't have much in me during the first part of the week.  Then I started just feeling very run down and drained the rest of the week so mileage was light and easy and not great this week.

I will have to re-focus this next week and get some momentum back.  The next back to back to back to back long weekend is coming up and I need to be ready to go and do what I can do.

I need to stop stuffing bad stuff in my body too.  I've been eating very badly and I know I need to do better in this area.

Weekly Review: Nov 4 - 10, 2013

Here's this week's recap
Monday
PM Workout:  Bike 7.9mi, 15.9mph avg, resistance level 3
Notes:  Just feeling a bit tired and worn out and yet looking forward to this weekend.

Tuesday
PM Workout:  Treadmill run/walk 2.14mi @ 14:29 per mi
Notes:  Good run/walk tonight.  The run felt good despite my heel and legs feeling a bit tight and sore.

Wednesday
PM Workout:  Treadmill run/walk 2.28mi @ 14:28 per mi
Notes:  Feeling tired from a few long nights on call, but this was a good run/walk.

Thursday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 3mi @ 15:00 per mi
Notes:  Good easy walk.  Looking for an interesting weekend with many miles.

Friday
PM Workout: Treadmill walk 3mi @ 15:45 per mi
Notes:  Was hoping for seven miles today, but sadly I just didn't have it in me.  I had quite a walk at the Expo and then a shop at the store.  Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least.

Saturday
AM Workout:  Mikey's Jingle Jungle 5K 4.12mi, Garmin 3.21mi @ 13:36 per mi, Official 3.1mi @ 14:04 per mi
PM Workout: Wine and Dine Half Marathon 14.18mi, Garmin 13.48mi @ 15:10 per mi, Official 13.1mi @ 15:36 per mi
Notes: The 5K went fabulously, perfect weather, fun course at Animal Kingdom and just felt good the whole way.  The half marathon not so fabulous, great weather, good course, way slower than I hoped or planned on being.

Sunday
PM Workout: Bike 7.3mi, 14.6mph avg, resistance level 2
Notes:  I am so sore that I can barely move.  Feeling pain in pretty much every part of my body right now.  Yesterday took a toll I didn't expect..

Weekly Numbers:
Weight Watch: +2.4 pounds
I know I didn't do a great job on food last week, but this seems a bit silly to me.  Must work harder.

Run/Walk Miles: 28.72
Bike Miles: 15.20
Elliptical Miles: 0.0
TOTAL MILES: 43.92

Monthly Numbers
Run/Walk Miles:  36.15
Bike Miles: 23.30
Elliptical Miles: 0.0
TOTAL MILES: 59.45

Training Notes
I am absolutely thrilled with my performance in the 5K.  At least in short distances I am starting to gain a little bit of speed.  I had an absolutely fantastic time at the 5K and really enjoyed myself the whole time.  I felt really good after it as well.

Then it was time for the half marathon and I was thinking it was going to go well considering how the morning went.  I am very happy that I was able to do run/walk the whole time, but I'm sad that my speed was so bad.  In addition, I am completely upset with the fact that I am so sore today that I can hardly move.

Food has been hit and miss all week again.  I've had really good days and really bad days.  I know I need to keep working on this.

2013 Princess Half Marathon - 5th Anniversary

As I mentioned in my post on the 2013 Mickey and Minnie Mouse Royal Family 5K, I picked up my packet on Friday afternoon and it wasn't the best experience.  Well, at least the packet pick up wasn't so bad, just the rest of it wasn't great.  I will still be happy to be back over at ESPN Wide World of Sports for this Expo next year.

Princess Half Tech Shirt (men's cut)

It's a great thing that we can now order a women's or men's cut shirt.  For me, the women's champion shirts have always run small (even when I wasn't as heavy as I am now) and I don't like shirts to cling so I always opt for the men's shirt now.

There was some extras for the fifth anniversary and I appreciated the little extras.

I drove to Epcot to park in the early hours of the morning.  As I entered the staging area and went about my normal pre-corral routine I noticed that it was already quite warm and very humid.  This of course made me nervous as I don't do so well with the humidity.  I could only hope for the best and do what I could since I was still not at 100% in terms of my health and I really just wanted to finish upright.

The race got under way and soon it was light.  Thankfully, there was a nice cloud cover so the sun wasn't blaring down on us, but it was definitely warm and the humidity never did ease during the entire race.

This race course is the same as the WDW Half in January.  There's some road time with some special character spots prior to the Ticket and Transportation Center - there's a group of princes all together for a photo op that I always love as it's amazing to see them all together in one place like that, then you get the Contemporary hill and on to the Magic Kingdom which is always fun and energizing.  After the Magic Kingdom it's the crowded road by the Grand Floridian and Polynesian, some more lovely road with banked ramps an overpass, the Epcot parking lot and then in to Epcot where the end is near and the smiles come easily.  Finally you exit Epcot and head to the finish line where hopefully you get to high five one of the fab five!

I don't normally do the I Did It shirts any more as there are just so many, but the anniversary one was just too good to pass up this time around.

If you're looking for a great race for a girls' weekend, this is a must try.  The atmosphere is fun and there is a lot of energy on the course.  You'll see plenty of running skirts and tutus and glitter.  That doesn't mean that men should avoid this race, as someone once told me there's plenty to look at and who knows you might see something you like and set a new PR.  Beware men, you're not going to be in a corral above C in this race and if you're looking for an award other than your finisher's medal this race isn't for you.

In all seriousness, this is one of my favorite runDisney events and I highly recommend it!
