Countdown to 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend #16

#16 - The Cast Members

When you travel to Walt Disney World (or any Disney location), you will come in to contact with a lot of Cast Members (Disney Employees).  There are so many Cast Members at the resorts, in the parks, providing transportation, doing landscaping, maintaining the property and more.  Many of the jobs that they perform are thankless and these people are doing their best to make your experience special and yes, they get paid to do it, but the pay isn't as much as you might think.

On top of the fact that you'll encounter Cast Members throughout your vacation, if you are participating in any of the runDisney events you'll have a different experience with Cast Members.

As you are on the race course and going through the parks, both on stage and backstage, there are Cast Members there to cheer you on.  These folks are there bright and early and it's because they will be cheering for all the race participants.  Many of them will have Mickey gloves, clappers, or other noise makers and they'll stand there cheering until the back of the pack passes by.

Then there are Cast Members that go above and beyond.  These are the Cast Members that shout out your name, give you high fives, come up with fun sayings and chants for the racers.  They are full of smiles and encouraging words and pep talks when they see you struggling.

I have had many great Cast Member experiences out on the race courses and I look forward to many more.

Remember to thank these Cast Members.  It can be cold or hot, rainy or super sunny, but they are out there supporting you so a simple thanks can go a long way!
