Countdown to 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend #25

#25 - Polynesian's 'Ohana

From the Walt Disney World website:
'Ohana restaurant in Disney's Polynesian Resort offers a dinner menu with selections influenced by Polynesian cuisine and a Character Dining breakfast. Both meals are served family style, which makes sense since in the Hawaiian culture 'ohana means family.

The 'Ohana servers contribute to the festive atmosphere, as they dash between tikis and tropical greenery to bring plates of Polynesian specialties to your table. Choose from skewers roasted over an expansive 18-foot oak fire pit!

Side dishes include stir-fried vegetables, fried dumplings, lo mein noodles and a salad starter. The full bar in 'Ohana offers select wines and tropical alcoholic drinks.

When the doors open for dinner, be welcomed to 'Ohana with the bellow of conch shells. Experience storytellers and coconut races, where children sweep coconuts with brooms across the hardwood floor down the center of the restaurant. The family fun continues as everyone is encouraged to play with hula hoops and dance to island music.

'Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch
Start the day with Experiment 626, or as he's known to his friends, Stitch! Lilo's here, too, to extend her Polynesian hospitality to you and your family. Feel like you're a part of Lilo & Stitch's intergalactic 'ohana when you join them for an American breakfast influenced by the exotic tastes of Polynesia. Menu selections include scrambled eggs, Island-style fried potatoes, Hawaiian pork sausages, smoked bacon and a variety of fresh fruits and breads. To complete the theme of "family," dishes are served family-style.

Cancellation Policy Updates — Begin October 26, 2011
To ensure consistent Guest service, a one-day cancellation policy will apply to new reservations at this dining venue beginning October 26, 2011. If a Guest cancels within one day of the reservation or if the dining party is a "no show" for the meal, a cancellation fee of $10 per person will be charged to the credit card used at the time of booking. See complete details below under Guest Policies.

Why am I looking forward to 'Ohana?
Located in the Great Ceremonial House at the Polynesian Resort, 'Ohana is a sit down restaurant that serves meals family style.  'Ohana means family and when you're here every one's your cousin.  The restaurant has a great open fire pit located in the middle and a nice tropical atmosphere to sit and relax in while enjoying your meal.

The starters are pretty amazing - chicken wings, dumplings, lo-mein noodles, salad and veggies.  I would recommend giving these a try, but don't eat too many of these delicious items, because believe me you're going to need some room in your tummy for the main event.

The entree consists of skewers of oak fired chicken, pork, beef and shrimp.  The meats are nicely seasoned and grilled beautifully.  The wait staff walk around with these huge skewers of meat and offer them up to you.  This is an all you care to eat meal, so don't despair, those skewers are just going to keep showing up until you just can't eat another bite.

If you can still manage to eat more, dessert is next.  Dessert consists of bread pudding with bananas and caramel sauce.

This is a great restaurant to go with a family or group of friends and just sit back and enjoy the amazing atmosphere and wonderful food!

I really liked Ohana when we did breakfast there a year ago.

You getting psyched yet ? I downloaded the waiver forms. My bib for the marathon is like 1055 or something, not sure how that translates to corrals, but it's gotta be A or B. You know me, that was enough to make me happy :-)
