Countdown to 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend #53

#53 - Epcot's Le Cellier

From the Walt Disney World website:
Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada Pavilion offers refuge to red meat lovers beneath the bustle of Epcot theme park in a setting inspired by the wine cellars of the grandest Canadian château-style hotels: Le Château Frontenac and Fairmont Château Laurier.

At Le Cellier Steakhouse, feast on regional cuisine based on recipes from the provinces of Canada. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant features succulent prime rib and filet mignon from aged corn-fed beef, and pan-seared seafood, along with its signature dish, Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. The extensive children's menu aims to please the picky eater.

Warm each meal with a fine Canadian wine, chosen from the vintages displayed in glass and wood cases surrounding the restaurant's intimate interior illuminated by ambient lighting. The dessert menu includes a chocolate "moose" with character.

To ensure a seat at this celebrated cellar decorated with stone arches and candle chandeliers, make reservations up to 180 days in advance. Then head north for a sensational sizzling steakhouse experience.

Why am I looking forward to Le Cellier?
Tucked back in by a beautiful waterfall located in the Canada Pavilion of World Showcase at Epcot sits the very popular restaurant Le Cellier.  If you've ever eaten here you'll see why it can be tough to get an advanced dining reservation - the dining room is not large.  That is part of the charm though, the dining room is cozy, dimly lit with a natural feel.  I believe the different sections of the restaurant are supposed to represent the different territories of Canada.

Let's be honest though - the real draw of this restaurant is the food.  Le Cellier is a steakhouse, so they offer a lot of different beef entrees, but they have other options as well.

If you enjoy cheese, soup and maybe a touch of beer you should not miss the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.  It's a creamy cheddar soup with bacon that lends a smoky flavor, the tang of the cheese and the slightest hint of the Moosehead beer used makes for a wonderful flavor profile.  It's a delightful way to start a meal.

One of the favorite entrees of many people is the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - this is a spectacular entree.  A cooked to order filet mignon with wild mushroom risotto and a white truffle butter sauce.  It is absolutely delicious, a great combination of flavors and textures.
If you're looking for something sweet or refreshing to end the meal, the restaurant also offers some excellent desserts.  I always enjoy the seasonal sorbet - a cool refreshing burst of flavor to end a great meal.

A tip - if you want to try the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon but are watching your budget, try for a lunch seating.  This entree is offered at both lunch and dinner, but the prices are significantly different.  At dinner this entree will cost $41, but at lunch you can try it for $26.99.  I cannot comment on the difference between the size of lunch versus dinner, but I can say that either way you go, you will not go hungry!
