Pasta In The Park/After Party

2010 WDW Marathon Weekend will now include a pasta in the park event on Thursday, January 7th to kick off the fun.

There is also going to be an after party at one of the parks on Sunday after all the races are done.

Free One Time Use Camera

Can you believe it? Those of you signed up for a race at WDW's 2010 Marathon Weekend Events will be getting a free one time use Kodak camera in your goody bag!

I'm super excited about this. That's a great thing to put in a runner's goody bag-it'll be great for those pictures of the characters and landmarks along the course!

2 Miles and a Track

Sometimes 2 miles feels like 20...How am I ever going to make it to full marathon length? Well I guess I need to do a lot better than 2 miles.

It's hot and humid and I'm sweating like crazy, but I did manage to get 2 miles in today...and I did something I don't think I've ever done before. I ran on the dirt track at the local Jr High. I tend to get bored easily so I've just never run on the track. I do speed work, tempo runs, everything on the road. Monday I did one lap on the track and it wasn't terrible, so today I figured I'd do a mile on the track. You know what, it wasn't bad. I don't want to do it everyday and I don't know if I'll ever do more than a mile at a time, but I didn't lose my tempo and I didn't go stark raving mad.

I haven't hit my two workouts a day this week at all, but I'll get there. I'm just getting back in the swing of things!


Last week was only marginally better in terms of exercise. I managed to do my strength training, but not run. Eating was also out of control.

This week is going better. I think I've got my eating back under control - finally. I managed to get in a 2 mile run Monday evening (it was 108 out). I worked my chest and back yesterday - I don't think I'll ever be able to do push ups well, but I keep trying. I'll try to head out for another 2 miles tonight and maybe do some Pilates. I feel pretty good so far this week and I want to keep that momentum going until I head to WDW in Sept.

My new refrigerator is working well. The delivery guys were not so great and I ended up doing the water hookup and explaining how to get it in the house, but you know how it goes. At least it's there and I have cold food again :).

I am very ready for my vacation. It's been such a long year so far. I did manage to get a new evening gown for my Victoria&Albert's dinner and a new swimming suit. Should I start packing now? I only have about 45 days or so to go!!!!

I don't have any races scheduled right now. There are very few events in AZ during the summer. I think everyone figures people wouldn't be stupid enough to want to race in this heat. Strange since other parts of the country are hot and they still have races. So, racing is on
hold until the fall. When I get back from WDW the race season will have started and I'll get busy again.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince this morning. While I could critique it, pick it apart and name all the things they didn't put in the movie - I won't. Why? Because I really enjoyed the film. I think the pacing was good, the trio are growing as actors and played off each other very well, the effects were good and overall it had a lot of humor.

If you've read the books or liked the other movies - go see it. If you want the back story and more detail and haven't read the books - give them a try, they'll suck you in to the story!

Is Your Refrigerator Running????

Well, if it is - go catch it or better yet, send it to me :)! My refrigerator died last week and I finally made it out to the store to buy a new one today. Now I just have to wait until Wednesday to have it delivered. Boy am I getting tired of drinking warm water...I just really didn't want to spend the money for a new one, even though mine is over 10 years old. So, yes I had to spend money I didn't want to, but I'll call it good for the environment as the energy savings will be good :)!

I finished painting the main portion of my living room this weekend. I'm still not done, but it's getting there. It's only taken me a year...Yes, I know I got lazy on this to. It's just a lot of work and I get tired just thinking about it, but it is starting to look pretty good.

I haven't run in a week and a half...YIKES...I know how bad that is. I have been doing my strength training so at least I'm not totally a couch potato, but I know it's going to be hard to get myself going this week and I really have to get going. I have 7.5 weeks to my WDW vacation and I really need to get my rear in gear so that I can have a good vacation and not worry about starting back up when I get back. Cause once I get back it'll be hard core training for January and the WDW 1/2 - I want a PR this time...I'm shooting for 2:30 - that means shaving 10 minutes off the Princess 1/2 time from this year and I'm going to have to work for it!

I have spent the last week shoveling food in my mouth - anything and everything I could find I ate. I know it's stress eating, but for some reason I'm having trouble stopping myself from doing it. I think today I finally hit the food wall and I can't hardly stand the thought of eating anything else. The scale is not going to be nice to me tomorrow and I deserve the horrible weight gain that it is going to show. I have to toughen up my resolve and get back to being good. I was doing really good and I start to see progress and all of a sudden I'm back to sabotaging myself...It's stupid and it needs to stop now.

I've also been really bad about getting up in the mornings and getting in my AM workout. That has to stop too. I know that I can get up and workout and if I do I'll just feel better, but man has it been tough this last couple of weeks.

I found out at work that I've made it past the first round of downsizing, but it's expected to continue through the end of the year so I can't breathe freely yet. Just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll make through my vacation and then the 1/2 marathon in January and then I'll go on from there. Unfortunately, the workplace has not gotten any kinder and I still feel as if it's taking a toll on my mental well-being, but I'll manage.

I hope everyone else is doing better than I am and that you're staying on track and working toward your goals. I'm re-joining the land of the fit this week and I'll be working my rear off again - at least I hope my rear gets worked off!

Monorail Crash at WDW

My thoughts and prayers are with the Monorail Driver's family this sad Sunday. I hope that the five guests that were treated on site are well and recovering and that the other Monorail Driver that was uninjured is also recovering emotionally.

Happy Fourth of July

HAPPY 4th of JULY!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. Don't do anything stupid and be cautious if you end up driving anywhere.

So, June is over and July is in full swing. I managed to get miles in every single day in June - that was quite an accomplishment for me. I ended up running/walking 90.54 miles total in June - WOW, that's a lot of miles...

This week I've really been taking it easy. It's been very hot and humid (for AZ) and I've just felt a need to let my body get a little rest. I'll be hitting it hard again starting next week. I definitely need to lose more weight and get my mileage back up to where it should be.

I only have a couple of months until WDW and I am so ready to go!

Well, I'm going to take my dogs to the dog park this morning so they can have some fun. It's been too hot to take them out walking/running so hopefully they'll have fun getting in the water at the dog park.

This afternoon I'll be going to the theater to see Wicked! Loved the show last time I saw it, but I had a bad seat, this time I have a really good seat and it should be a great show!
